After two years of hard-work and half-a-million dollar fundraising, CWJC unveiled the “Comfort Women” Memorial by artist Steven Whyte on September 22, 2017 in the centrally located St. Mary’s Square annex in San Francisco downtown.
Hundreds of supporters around the globe, including one of the most prominent survivors of the Japanese military sexual slavery, Grandma Yongsoo Lee, and major media outlets came to witness the historic moment where San Francisco became the first major US City to install a memorial dedicated to the victims of the “Comfort Women.”
The memorial is located in the annex to the St. Mary’s Square, 651 California St. San Francisco, CA 94108.
